How Much Does a Power of Attorney Cost in Dubai? Fees, Notary Charges and Timing (2026)

A power of attorney in Dubai involves three kinds of cost: preparing the document, the notary’s charges for executing it, and any translation or attestation your route needs. At POAS, one fixed fee per service covers the first two: our preparation and coordination, every notary charge and all UAE government costs for the POA — from AED 1,899 + VAT for a General Power of Attorney. Certified translation, courier and any overseas legalisation stay separate where your route needs them. This page sets out each part, with the official source for every figure, and a worked example.

The three parts of the cost

  • Preparation. Drafting the instrument to fit the purpose, the recipient and the execution route. At POAS this is part of one fixed fee per service, shown ex-VAT with 5% VAT added at checkout.
  • Execution. The notarial act. In Dubai this is done either at a Dubai Courts Notary Public, where the fees are set by Executive Council resolution, or by an independent private notary licensed by Dubai Courts, whose published fees took effect on 2 January 2026. When POAS coordinates the execution, these notary charges are included in the POAS fee.
  • Route-specific extras. A certified Arabic translation where the document is not in Arabic; consular legalisation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation where the principal signs outside the UAE; courier and originals. These are charged by the translator, the embassy, the ministry or the courier. They are not included in the POAS fee, and POAS does not carry out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation.

The sections below give the published amount for each part where one exists, say which ones the POAS fee already covers, and say plainly where a charge is set by a third party.

POAS fixed fees

Each figure is the POAS fee for that service; the due-now amount is the fee plus 5% VAT as charged at checkout. Each fee includes our preparation and coordination, every notary charge (Dubai Courts or private notary, including the notary’s own appointment or digital-execution charge) and all UAE government costs for the POA. The difference between the AED 1,899 and AED 2,199 services reflects the scope of drafting and coordination each one involves — a higher-priced instrument is not legally “stronger”. Certified translation, courier and overseas legalisation are not included.

Government notary fees at Dubai Courts

Where the instrument is executed at a Dubai Courts Notary Public, the fees are those approved by Executive Council Resolution No. (4) of 2014. The items that apply to a power of attorney:

  • Attestation of a general or special power of attorney — AED 100 per party.
  • Attestation of a translator’s signature on an instrument — AED 50 per page.
  • True copy or additional copy of an instrument — AED 5 per page.
  • Certificate issued from the notary’s registers — AED 300.

Dubai government fees generally carry the emirate’s AED 10 knowledge fee and AED 10 innovation fee on top. The resolution also sets fees for attesting signatures on instruments with a stated value (AED 300 per party up to AED 100,000; 0.5% of the value above that, capped at AED 15,000) — those apply to contracts and similar instruments, not to the attestation of a power of attorney, which has its own line.

Private notary charges

POAS coordinates execution through an independent private notary licensed by Dubai Courts — the route that also allows digital execution where the notary supports it under Dubai’s Resolution No. (137) of 2022. From 2 January 2026, Dubai Courts regulates the fees of private notaries under a decision published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Dubai (issue 752), announced through the Dubai Media Office on 29 December 2025. The published items:

  • AED 100 for the electronic registration of each party’s details in the Dubai Courts system;
  • AED 100 for each signature on the instrument;

When POAS coordinates the appointment, these charges — including the notary’s own appointment or digital-execution charge — are paid by POAS and included in the POAS fee. Execution is arranged online through the notary wherever the notary supports it. Where the principal signs from outside the UAE and the notary’s charge is higher, POAS absorbs the difference; the published POAS fee does not change. You do not pay the notary separately. POAS is not a notary: it prepares and coordinates your file from its office in Business Bay, and the notary charge for the notarial act is included in the POAS fee.

Translation, attestation and other separate costs

  • Certified Arabic translation. Dubai Courts guidance requires a document not in Arabic to be accompanied by a legal translation certified by the UAE Ministry of Justice. Where the route requires a certified translation, the translator charges by page and length.
  • Legalisation for a POA signed outside the UAE. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a POA notarised abroad is legalised through the UAE embassy or consulate in that country and then attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. Each step has its own published fee; the embassy and the ministry set them, not POAS. These steps are not part of the POAS service: POAS does not carry out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation, and its fee does not include these charges.
  • Government, court or authority charges at the receiving organisation — for example a land-department, bank, developer, trustee or RTA fee for acting on the POA.
  • Courier, originals and overseas delivery.
  • Services outside the ten listed POAS products.

The exact third-party cost varies by document, identity route, language, recipient and provider. POAS must disclose a variable charge before it is incurred or submitted.

What the POAS fee covers

  • review of the selected service against the stated purpose;
  • preparation of a tailored POA within the agreed scope;
  • a document and identity checklist for the selected route;
  • reasonable corrections to a POAS drafting error;
  • coordination of the applicable licensed notarial channel;
  • all notary charges for the execution, including the notary’s own appointment or digital-execution charge;
  • all UAE government costs for the POA; and
  • the POA Fit Promise.

A worked example

A resident principal appoints a resident agent under a General Power of Attorney, signs in Dubai before a private notary at the notary’s office, and no separate certified translation is required.

  • POAS fee: AED 1,899 + VAT, with 5% VAT added at checkout.
  • Private notary published items: AED 100 to register the principal’s details and AED 100 for the principal’s signature (a further AED 100 if the agent is also registered) — included in the POAS fee.
  • Any charge of the notary’s own for the appointment: included in the POAS fee.
  • Translation, attestation, courier: none in this example.

So the total for this example is AED 1,899 + VAT, paid once at checkout. If the same POA were executed at a Dubai Courts Notary Public instead, the AED 100-per-party attestation fee and the knowledge and innovation fees would also be covered by the POAS fee. A Special Power of Attorney follows the same pattern with the AED 2,199 + VAT fee. A POA signed abroad adds the legalisation chain, which is charged separately by the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is not part of the POAS service.

What “next business day” means

Our target is preparation and coordinated notarisation by the next business day once payment, complete documents, identity checks and draft approval are in place. It can take longer if information is incomplete or private-notary or Dubai Courts capacity is constrained. This is a target, not a guarantee.

Common causes of delay include mismatched names, missing authority records, unclear powers, recipient-specific forms, translation, customer amendments, remote-eligibility questions, notary availability and court workload.

How to avoid delay and extra cost

  • Name the exact receiving organisation.
  • Send clear, current identity and supporting documents.
  • Provide any prescribed wording or rejection note before drafting.
  • Decide high-risk powers — money receipt, settlement, borrowing and sub-delegation — deliberately.
  • Review the draft once, carefully, before approval.
  • Respond promptly to identity or authority questions.

One fixed POAS fee covers preparation, coordination and the notary and UAE government charges for the POA — AED 1,899 + VAT for a General POA, AED 2,199 + VAT for a Special or Property POA, AED 1,999 + VAT for a Bank Account POA. For reference, the notary’s published charges are AED 100 per party at a Dubai Courts Notary Public, or, at a private notary from 2 January 2026, AED 100 per party to register details plus AED 100 per signature; POAS pays these out of its fee. Certified translation and, for a POA signed abroad, embassy legalisation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation are extra and set by the provider.

Executive Council Resolution No. (4) of 2014 sets the Dubai Courts Notary Public fee for attesting a general or special power of attorney at AED 100 per party, plus AED 50 per page to attest a translator’s signature and AED 5 per page for copies. Dubai’s AED 10 knowledge and AED 10 innovation fees are generally added to government fees.

From 2 January 2026 the published items are AED 100 for the electronic registration of each party’s details, AED 100 for each signature on the instrument. Ask for a written quote that also shows any charge of the notary’s own for the appointment or for digital execution.

At a private notary, yes — AED 100 for each party whose details are registered in the Dubai Courts system. There is no separate registration fee for a power of attorney at the Dubai Courts Notary Public beyond the attestation fee. Some receiving organisations charge their own fee to record or act on a POA; that is set by them.

“Attestation” is used for two different things. Attesting the POA itself in Dubai is the notary fee above, which the POAS fee includes. Attesting a POA signed outside the UAE means the legalisation chain — notarisation abroad, the UAE embassy or consulate in that country, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE — and each step has its own published fee set by that body. Those fees are not included in the POAS fee, and POAS does not carry out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation.
