Family & Inheritance Power of Attorney (UAE)

A Family / Inheritance Power of Attorney authorises an agent to act on your behalf in relation to a defined family or inheritance-related matter. Because these matters can involve multiple authorities, sensitive documentation, and recipient-specific requirements, the POA must be drafted with careful, explicit scope wording.

What it’s commonly used for

This POA is commonly used for:

  • signing and submitting documents connected to a defined family or succession matter
  • representing you for practical steps where a personal visit would otherwise be required
  • liaising with relevant recipients for the defined scope (recipient requirements vary)
  • completing administrative follow-ups tied to the specific purpose stated in the POA

What it’s not designed for (important)

Family and inheritance matters often require a specific legal route beyond a POA alone. A POA may not be sufficient if:

  • a court order, specific authority process, or additional approvals are required
  • the recipient has strict requirements on who can act and what evidence must be produced
  • the matter involves steps outside the defined scope (a POA is only as broad as its wording)

We reduce rejection risk through scope checks, but final acceptance is always the recipient’s decision.

What you get (included)

  • POA suitability check (whether a POA is appropriate for the intended step)
  • scope confirmation matched to your stated purpose
  • drafting aligned to typical UAE acceptance requirements
  • notarisation route coordination (UAE or abroad)
  • document checklist and submission steps
  • digital delivery once executed

What we need from you

To confirm the right scope quickly, we’ll usually ask for:

  • passport copy (principal) + Emirates ID (if applicable)
  • passport/Emirates ID (agent)
  • a simple description of what the agent needs to do (one paragraph)
  • any recipient details (authority/counterparty), if relevant
  • any instructions or forms you’ve already been given

How we reduce rejection risk

Before drafting, we confirm:

  • the POA scope is clear, limited, and aligned to the intended step
  • any recipient constraints (forms, clause requirements, identity evidence) are reflected where known
  • the correct execution route based on where you are signing (UAE or abroad), including attestation/legalisation where required

If a POA isn’t the right structure for your purpose, we’ll tell you before you commit.

Optional add-on: POAS.ae to act as your agent

You can appoint a POAS.ae-provided agent to act on your behalf for an additional AED 1,000. Scope must be clearly defined in the POA, and recipient acceptance requirements may still apply.
