Bank Account Power of Attorney (UAE)

A Bank Account Power of Attorney authorises an agent to act on your behalf for specified banking actions in the UAE. Banks are strict on exact wording, identity matching, and scope limits, so the POA must be drafted to match what your bank is likely to accept.

What it’s commonly used for

This POA is commonly used for:

  • handling account administration when you are abroad or unavailable
  • signing bank forms and completing bank procedures through an authorised agent
  • requesting statements / letters and completing standard account servicing steps
  • carrying out specific, pre-defined actions where the bank permits an agent to act

What banks often restrict (important)

Every bank has its own compliance rules. Even a correctly drafted POA can be subject to:

  • additional KYC / verification requirements
  • limits on high-risk actions (some banks require the account holder to attend)
  • the bank requiring its own forms or branch steps

Some banks may restrict or require additional approvals for:

  • large transfers or cash withdrawals
  • adding/removing signatories or changing account controls
  • sensitive changes to account security / access

We confirm scope wording to reduce rejection risk, but final acceptance is always the bank’s decision.

What you get (included)

  • POA suitability check (personal banking vs corporate banking structure)
  • drafting aligned to typical UAE bank acceptance requirements
  • scope confirmation to match your intended banking actions
  • notarisation route coordination (UAE or abroad)
  • document checklist and submission steps
  • digital delivery once executed

What we need from you

To confirm scope quickly, we’ll usually ask for:

  • passport copy (principal) + Emirates ID (if applicable)
  • passport/Emirates ID (agent)
  • your bank name (and branch if relevant)
  • a short list of what the agent needs to do
  • any requirements the bank has already given you (forms / wording / branch steps)

How we reduce rejection risk

Before drafting, we confirm:

  • bank-acceptable authority wording aligned to your requested actions
  • whether your bank is likely to require extra steps (forms, branch visit, KYC refresh)
  • the correct execution route based on where you are signing (UAE or abroad), including attestation/legalisation where required

If a Bank POA isn’t suitable for what you’re trying to do, we’ll tell you before you commit.

Optional add-on: POAS.ae to act as your agent

You can appoint a POAS.ae-provided agent to act on your behalf for an additional AED 1,000. Scope must be clearly defined in the POA, and bank acceptance requirements may still apply.
