Power of Attorney for Non-Residents (UAE)

A POA for Non-Residents is a Power of Attorney prepared for UAE use when the principal is outside the UAE. The key difference is not the wording alone — it’s the execution route (how you sign) and whether the document needs legalisation / attestation to be accepted in the UAE.
This product is designed to remove guesswork and reduce rejection risk by confirming the correct route before you commit.

What it’s commonly used for

This POA is commonly used when you are abroad and need an agent in the UAE to:

  • complete a defined procedure or transaction step on your behalf
  • sign specific documents with an authority, developer, trustee centre, or counterparty
  • handle practical follow-ups where in-person presence is otherwise required
  • act for you while you are travelling or based overseas long-term

What it’s not designed for (important)

“Non-resident” is not a POA type on its own — it’s a signing context. You may still need a specific structure depending on purpose, for example:

  • Property sale/transfer (property-specific authority wording and details)
  • Bank actions (bank acceptance varies; some require bank forms or extra verification)
  • Company actions (Corporate POA with supporting company documents)
  • Court/litigation representation (litigation-specific authority wording)

We reduce rejection risk through route and scope checks, but final acceptance is always the recipient’s decision.

What you get (included)

  • confirmation of the right POA structure (General / Special / Property / Bank / Corporate, as applicable)
  • scope confirmation matched to your purpose and recipient expectations
  • overseas execution route check (based on your country/city of signing)
  • guidance on whether attestation/legalisation is required for UAE use
  • notarisation route coordination and checklist
  • document checklist and submission steps
  • digital delivery once executed

What we need from you

To confirm the right route quickly, we’ll usually ask for:

  • your current country/city (where you will sign)
  • passport copy (principal) and Emirates ID (if applicable)
  • passport/Emirates ID (agent)
  • the exact purpose (what the agent must be able to do)
  • recipient details (bank/authority/developer/counterparty), if relevant
  • any forms or instructions you’ve already been given

How we reduce rejection risk

Before drafting, we confirm:

  • the correct POA structure and exact authority wording for your intended use
  • the correct overseas execution route and whether attestation/legalisation is required
  • recipient constraints (forms, KYC, clause requirements) where known

If your selected option isn’t the right structure for your use case, we’ll tell you before you commit.

Optional add-on: POAS.ae to act as your agent

You can appoint a POAS.ae-provided agent to act on your behalf for an additional AED 1,000. Scope must be clearly defined in the POA, and recipient acceptance requirements may still apply.
