Power of Attorney from Abroad for Use in Dubai

Start with the route, not an assumption about remote signing

This service is for a principal outside the UAE who needs a POA for one of POAS.ae’s supported purposes. We first review the principal’s location, intended powers, identity material, intended recipient and available execution route. Being outside the UAE does not automatically make a file eligible for video or remote notarisation.

Current Dubai Courts guidance states that online POA attestation requires the concerned parties to hold valid Emirates IDs. A person holding only a passport and no Emirates ID must appear in person before the notary. A principal outside the UAE may instead need an in-person or foreign-notarisation and attestation route. POAS confirms the route for the actual parties, matter and recipient before drafting.

Who this service is for

This service is for a living principal who meets the capacity and age requirements of the applicable channel, is currently outside the UAE, and needs a supported POAS service. Under Article 84 of the current UAE Civil Transactions Law, the age of majority is 18 Gregorian years. Capacity and channel evidence remain case-specific. The underlying powers must still be defined – for example, a supported property, banking, company, vehicle, family, personal or administrative task.

“Non-resident” describes the principal’s location and route-review need. It does not describe the powers in the document and is not a universal remote-signing route.

What POAS coordinates

Where a supported route is available, POAS can:

• identify the listed POAS service that matches the intended outcome
• review the principal’s location, identity material and practical verification position
• prepare a tailored POA for the agreed supported purpose
• coordinate the file through an independent private notary licensed by Dubai Courts where that channel accepts the case
• pass on the licensed provider’s identity, evidence, attendance, technology or signing instructions
• provide the available completed document after the applicable execution process

Remote eligibility is case-specific. Current Dubai Courts guidance states that online POA attestation requires the concerned parties to hold valid Emirates IDs, and that a person holding only a passport and no Emirates ID must appear in person before the notary. The applicable official or notarial channel determines any further identity, attendance and verification requirements.

What this service does not cover

This service does not include:

• a promise that every nationality, location, identity document or case is eligible for remote notarisation
• a guarantee that video conferencing is available for the file
• an embassy, consulate, foreign-notary, apostille, legalisation or overseas-attestation service unless separately and expressly quoted
• any purpose outside POAS.ae’s ten listed POA services
• court representation, immigration, tax, litigation, wills, guardianship or other unsupported work
• a POAS-provided person to act as the agent
• the later transaction that the customer’s named agent will undertake with a bank, developer, authority or other recipient

POAS does not supply or act as the agent. You nominate the person to whom the POA will grant authority.

Who does what

POAS.ae is an independent private service operated by Cendale Documents Clearing Services FZCO. POAS coordinates the applicable execution route. Where a Dubai private-notary route applies, an independent private notary licensed by Dubai Courts performs the regulated notarial act and decides whether remote processing, in-person attendance or additional verification is required. Overseas or other UAE routes may involve a different competent authority or authorised provider. The intended bank, developer, authority or other recipient applies its own KYC, original-document, attendance and acceptance rules.

Documents and information usually requested

Upload identity and case documents only through the case upload link supplied for the order. Do not send passport or Emirates ID images, card details, PINs, passwords or one-time codes in ordinary email, WhatsApp or telephone messages.

• the principal’s current country and city, time zone and contact details
• the principal’s clear passport copy and Emirates ID, if applicable
• the agent’s passport or Emirates ID
• the exact supported purpose and actions the agent must perform
• the intended receiving organisation and any written requirements
• the asset, company, account, vehicle, property or family records relevant to the underlying service
• information requested by the licensed provider for identity or attendance planning
• any target date, stated as a preference rather than a guaranteed deadline

The applicable authorised provider or official/notarial channel and the intended recipient may request originals, additional KYC, translations, legalisation, personal attendance or other evidence. How it works

1. Open the file. Pay AED 2,199 + VAT. Documents can follow payment.
2. Upload the route-review details. Provide the principal’s current location, identities, intended purpose and recipient requirements through the case upload link.
3. Review the execution route. We check the supplied information against POAS’s supported services and obtain the applicable licensed provider’s requirements where needed.
4. Approve the tailored draft. You verify the names, powers, limits, identifiers and recipient details.
5. Complete the applicable execution route. Follow the identity, evidence, attendance, technology and signing instructions of the applicable authorised provider or official/notarial channel. Where a Dubai private-notary route applies, the independent licensed notary makes the notarial decision and performs the notarial act.
6. Receive the available completed document. The intended recipient then applies its own acceptance process.

Timing

Our target is preparation and coordinated notarisation by the next business day once the route has been confirmed, payment and complete documents are in place, identity checks are complete and the draft is approved. Time zones, document quality, recipient requirements, additional verification, private-notary availability and court workload can extend the timing. This is a target, not a guarantee.

Route changes and refunds

If a different supported service or execution route is required, we explain the change before drafting. If the correct route costs less, we refund the difference. If it costs more, we obtain approval before collecting the balance. If no supported route is available and no available alternative is accepted, the professional fee is refunded under the Refund Policy.

If a completed document cannot be used for the supported purpose agreed with POAS because of a POAS drafting or scope error, we correct it without another POAS professional fee. If it cannot be corrected for that agreed purpose, we refund the POAS professional fee. Recipient policy, KYC decisions and separately incurred third-party charges remain outside that promise where they are unrelated to our drafting or scope.
