Special Power of Attorney (Dubai)

A Special Power of Attorney (SPOA) authorises an agent to do one defined action (or a tightly limited set of actions) on your behalf — for example: sign a specific document, complete a defined procedure, or represent you for a specific transaction step.

It is usually the right choice when the receiving party (bank, trustee centre, developer, authority, counterparty) expects precise, purpose-built authority wording.

What it’s commonly used for

A Special POA is commonly used for:

  • signing one specific agreement or set of forms
  • completing one defined transaction step (e.g., a particular submission, appointment, or procedure)
  • acting for you in a single, clearly described matter where broad authority is unnecessary
  • situations where the recipient is strict and will reject vague or “general” wording

What it’s not designed for (important)

A Special POA is not intended for ongoing management across many unrelated matters. You may need a different structure if you require:

  • broad, ongoing authority across multiple actions (General POA)
  • company authority (Corporate POA with company documents)
  • litigation/court representation (Litigation-specific authority wording)
  • property sale/transfer authority (Property POA with explicit “sell/transfer” authority and property details)

We reduce rejection risk through scope checks, but final acceptance is always the recipient’s decision.

What you get (included)

  • POA suitability check (Special vs General / Corporate / Litigation)
  • scope confirmation written around the exact action you need
  • drafting aligned to typical UAE acceptance requirements
  • notarisation route coordination (UAE or abroad)
  • document checklist and submission steps
  • digital delivery once executed

What we need from you

To draft the right scope, we’ll usually ask for:

  • passport copy (principal) + Emirates ID (if applicable)
  • passport/Emirates ID (agent)
  • the exact action the agent must perform (in one sentence)
  • the recipient name (bank/authority/developer/counterparty), if relevant
  • any forms, letters, or wording requirements you’ve been given

How we reduce rejection risk

Before drafting, we confirm:

  • the action is described in clear, specific authority wording
  • any recipient constraints (forms, exact clause requests, KYC) are reflected
  • the correct execution route based on where you are signing (UAE or abroad), including attestation/legalisation where required

If Special POA isn’t the right structure for your purpose, we’ll tell you before you commit.

Optional add-on: POAS.ae to act as your agent

You can appoint a POAS.ae-provided agent to act on your behalf for an additional AED 1,000. Scope must be clearly defined in the POA, and recipient acceptance requirements may still apply.
